About the Role

AZ Wheels and Tires is looking for an experienced Wheel & Tire Technician / Lift Kit Installer to join our team. This role combines everyday tire and wheel service work with specialized suspension lift kit and leveling kit installation. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technician who takes pride in precise, safe work, enjoys custom truck and Jeep builds, and is comfortable working directly with customers to explain the work being done. attention to detail is key and a self sufficient candidate is a must. Customer service comes first and that means doing what it takes to do the job right and create a positive experience for the customer.

Key Responsibilities

Tire & Wheel Service

• Mount, dismount, balance, and rotate tires on passenger vehicles, trucks, and SUVs.

• Inspect tires and wheels for wear, damage, and proper fitment; recommend replacements or repairs.

• Perform tire repairs (patches, plugs) in accordance with industry safety standards.

• Install and torque wheels correctly, including aftermarket and custom wheel packages.

• Perform or coordinate wheel alignments before and after installs.

• Maintain accurate service records and complete work orders for each vehicle.

Lift Kit Installation

• Install suspension lift kits, leveling kits, and body lift kits on trucks, Jeeps, and SUVs per manufacturer specifications.

• Fit and adjust larger tire/wheel packages to match lift height and clear body panels and suspension components.

• Perform post-install alignments, torque checks, and test drives to confirm proper ride height, handling, and safety.

• Communicate lift options, tire clearance, and ride-quality trade-offs clearly to customers.

• Keep up to date on new lift kit products, torque specs, and manufacturer installation procedures.

General Shop Duties

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe bay area; follow all shop safety procedures.

• Properly use and maintain lifts, torque wrenches, alignment machines, and other shop equipment.

• Assist with parts ordering and inventory for tires, wheels, and lift kit components as needed.

• Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service and support the front counter as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in tire/wheel service, front-end/suspension work, or lift kit installation.

• Working knowledge of suspension systems, steering components, and alignment principles.

• Familiarity with Arizona vehicle equipment requirements related to ride height, lighting, and modified vehicles.

• Ability to read and follow manufacturer installation instructions and torque specifications.

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (test drives required).

• Own your own tools to do the job. Basic jacks/lifts provided.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Preferred (not required)

• ASE certification(s) in Suspension & Steering or related area.

• Prior experience specifically installing lift kits or leveling kits on trucks/Jeeps.

• Experience with alignment equipment and tire balancing machines.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs (tires, wheels, lift components) regularly.

• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces (under vehicles/on creepers) for extended periods.

• Comfortable working with power tools, air tools, and shop equipment in a garage environment.

• Ability to work in a shop setting that may include seasonal heat, noise, and exposure to grease/fluids.

Compensation & Schedule

Pay range of $20–$30 per hour, depending on experience and certifications — competitive with Arizona market rates for technicians with specialized lift kit and suspension experience. Full-time schedule; specific days/hours to be discussed at interview.
