This requires independent judgment to adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of a radiologist Qualifications Certifications: American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); Registered Vascular Technologist - Vascular Technology (RVT-VT) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), Education: Certificate of Completion: Radiologic Technology; Associate's Degree: Related Field, Work Experience: Responsibilities Clinical Excellence/Patient Care Performs ultrasound procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures and standards of Medical Imaging to assigned patients of all ages + Exhibits competency in performing ultrasound procedures + Images required views demonstrating appropriate anatomy and pathology + Knowledgeable of catheters, biopsy instruments and sterile trays and prepares these items as necessary + Obtains accurate histories and explains rationale for procedure to patients/families + Enhances image quality through the use of appropriate transducers and machine settings + Evaluates the finished images to ensure diagnostic exams are being submitted to the radiologists + Maintains quality care throughout the procedure + Assess the abdominal arterial & venous system using color imaging Clinical Excellence Maintains working knowledge of equipment in order to function in all areas of ultrasound. + All ultrasound equipment within the Medical Imaging Ultrasound department + Technically knowledgeable of equipment operation including hardware and software + Performs reasonable trouble shooting + Reports equipment problems through appropriate channels & documents on board for all staff notification + Maintains clean work area, checks and stocks all supplies in their specific area and verifies pertinent accessories assigned to that room + Reports equipment problems through appropriate channels + Invasive Procedures + Able to document area of concern + Set up trays with sterile field for radiologist + Assists radiologist with biopsy + Orders labs and pathology tests under the direction of a radiologist Relationship Building Performs support functions of the Medical Imaging department to ensure patient expectations and needs are met and assumes personal responsibility for training fellow technologists/students. + Promptly processes images and paperwork to ensure timely turn around in providing a report to the physician's office + Fills out all appropriate paperwork to facilitate timely and accurate reporting + Maintains and coordinates patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care + Promptly and accurately enters patient information into HIS system to ensure efficient patient throughput + Maintenance of the QA, QC, QI programs + Shares knowledge and guides fellow technologists/students with proper department protocol and procedures + Displays a professional attitude in the area toward fellow technologists/students, fostering mutual respect and creating productive learning environment About Us **Find it here.** Discover the job, the career, the purpose you were meant for. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
