Critical Systems Technician IV - Electrical
Join a leading provider of mission-critical power solutions as a Critical Systems Technician IV, specializing in switchgear, based in Phoenix, AZ. As the primary on-site contact, you will lead the start-up, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of advanced electrical equipment, ensuring reliability and performance for essential operations. Responsibilities
- Lead start-up, commissioning, repairs, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of mission-critical electrical equipment, including switchgear, UPS, PLCs, batteries, monitoring equipment, and generators.
- Serve as the primary on-site contact, providing technical leadership and daily direction to team members and interfacing with contractors, vendors, and customers.
- Collaborate with sales and project management teams to review technical specifications, submittal packages, and ensure project requirements are met.
- Participate in factory witness testing, coordinate with factory project managers, and oversee resolution of punch list items both at the factory and on-site.
- Manage project schedules, staffing, and resources, reporting status updates and potential impacts to project margins to management.
- Coordinate site testing, third-party labor, and test equipment as needed, and resolve on-site technical issues in collaboration with factory and engineering teams.
- Conduct customer and field engineer training sessions on equipment and processes.
- Perform preventive maintenance services and respond to service calls as required.
- Supervise and mentor regional staff, including interviewing, hiring, training, and performance management.
- Travel regionally up to 30% of the time, with potential for increased travel as the market expands.
- Ensure all required site documentation is completed and secure final customer acceptance upon project completion.
- Facilitate communication between field and factory teams, sharing lessons learned and best practices.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; bachelor’s degree in electronics, electrical theory, or related discipline highly desirable. Equivalent work experience or military training accepted.
- Minimum 7 years of field repair or customer service experience with electrical, electro-mechanical, or electronics-related equipment, or equivalent military equipment experience.
- Three to five years of experience with mission-critical products and knowledge of critical power systems required.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting one-line diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Experience with job hazard analyses, methods of procedure, technical reports, and procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional customer relations abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to train, influence, and motivate team members.
- Ability to make independent decisions and provide technical support to regional staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and MS Project.
- NETA/NICET Level 2 or 3 certification is a plus.
- Valid state vehicle operator's license required.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Ability to meet physical demands, including lifting 10-50 pounds, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and visual acuity requirements.
