Brief Description

At Vitalant, every role contributes to our mission of saving lives through blood donation and innovation in healthcare. We’re looking for a full-time temporary Sr. Software Developer (6-month assignment) to help advance that mission by designing, developing, and supporting software applications that power our operations across Vitalant, its affiliates, and business units. In this role, you’ll collaborate with teams across the organization to deliver reliable, high-quality applications and technology solutions that strengthen our life-saving systems.

As a Sr. Software Developer, You'll Get To

• Lead research, analysis, and activities for change requests and work orders.
• Manage development efforts to ensure projects meet established deadlines.
• Design and recommend proof-of-concept solutions for new data technologies.
• Ensure documentation meets software development standards and best practices.
• Prepare accurate time estimates for design reviews, coding, and testing tasks.
• Evaluate and recommend third-party software solutions.
• Collaborate with IT teams—including Architecture, Infrastructure, Business Analysis, and Quality Assurance—to deliver high-quality software.
• Partner with end users to ensure solutions meet business requirements.
• Stay current with blood banking regulations and standards, guiding necessary system updates and maintaining professional industry relationships.
  
  

Requirements

Knowledge/ Education

Bachelor’s degree required.

Knowledge in database design as it relates to data extraction required.

Knowledge in Structured Query Language (SQL), Stored Procedures, and OLAP concepts required.

Knowledge in report, software, and system life cycles required.

Understanding of full software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies required.

Healthcare Experience Preferred.

Licenses/ Certifications

Certified In Any Of The Following Preferred

Microsoft SQL Server

Informatica

Oracle EBS

MicroStrategy

Experience

Five years of related experience required.

Experience With Current Data Integration Technologies And Tools Required.

Experience with current Business Intelligence (BI) technologies and tools required.

Experience with current object oriented concepts, frameworks, and languages for software, web, and mobile application development required.

Skills/Abilities

Must possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and responsibilities.

Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Must have analytical, statistical, personal organization, and problem solving skills.

Ability to work in a team environment and participate as an active team member.

Must have proficient computer skills.

Able to organize, prioritize, and execute a variable workload and multiple priorities.
