Location: Phoenix, AZ

Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday

Compensation: $250,000–$350,000 base + milestone-based bonus and long-term upside tied to EBITDA performance

About the Company

We are working with a rapidly scaling B2B health technology and services company focused on the behavioral health ecosystem. We partner with provider organizations to deliver end-to-end operational and technology solutions that improve access, efficiency, and outcomes.

The company is in a high-growth, system-building phase, past early startup, not yet fully institutionalized. Over the next 24 months, we plan to scale our provider network from ~185 to 1,000+ providers while strengthening internal systems, leadership, and execution. There are no immediate plans for a sale or new equity partners, but we are intentionally building toward long-term enterprise value.

The Opportunity

This is a true operating leadership role, not a caretaker position.

The COO will act as the CEO’s operational counterpart, owning execution, accountability, and cross-functional alignment across the business. The right leader will thrive in ambiguity, move quickly, and bring structure without slowing momentum.

You will be responsible for turning strategy into reality, fixing what’s broken, strengthening what works, and building an organization that can scale efficiently without burning out its people or partners.

What Success Looks Like

In the first 90 days:

  • Gain full command of day-to-day operations and team dynamics
  • Clarify roles, responsibilities, decision rights, and communication rhythms
  • Identify operational bottlenecks across people, systems, and workflows
  • Build trust with executive peers (CEO, CFO, CTO, CCO) and key leaders
  • Begin streamlining systems across operations, HR, and provider workflows

Within 12 months:

  • Operations run smoothly with minimal executive fire-fighting
  • Clear performance metrics, dashboards, and accountability are embedded across teams
  • Provider onboarding, engagement, and productivity scale reliably
  • Technology and operations are tightly integrated
  • The organization can support rapid growth without chaos
  • You are a trusted thought partner who challenges assumptions and drives better decisions

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Own and lead all day-to-day operations across administrative, clinical support, and operational teams
  • Translate executive strategy into executable plans, systems, and measurable outcomes
  • Build, refine, and enforce SOPs, workflows, and performance standards
  • Ensure operational scalability as the provider network grows from hundreds to thousands

Team & Culture

  • Lead, coach, and develop high-performing leaders and teams
  • Drive accountability with clarity, fairness, and consistency
  • Address performance issues decisively, including staffing decisions
  • Foster a strong, collaborative, no-ego culture with high standards and a sense of humor

Provider Network Operations

  • Oversee provider onboarding, engagement, credentialing coordination, and ongoing support
  • Improve provider experience while maintaining productivity and compliance
  • Navigate complex partner and subcontractor relationships

Systems, Technology & Data

  • Partner closely with the CTO and tech team to optimize and extend existing platforms
  • Ensure technology supports real operational needs (not theory)
  • Leverage data, dashboards, and EBITDA-focused metrics to drive decisions
  • Help prepare the organization for future monetization of its technology platform

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work in close partnership with the CEO, CFO, CTO, and CCO
  • Oversee the Director of Clinical Operations in coordination with clinical leadership
  • Support HR systems, recruiting strategy, and organizational design
  • Provide operational input into marketing and sales execution (this is not a pure growth role, but growth-minded operators will excel here)

Non-Negotiables

  • Senior operations leadership experience (COO, VP Ops, Director of Ops, or equivalent) in a company of similar or greater complexity
  • Proven experience scaling organizations from ~$10M to $100M+ in revenue
  • Strong bias toward action, ownership, and follow-through
  • Ability to operate independently without constant oversight
  • Comfort challenging leadership respectfully and directly
  • Strong people skills—able to lead, coach, and influence across functions

Ideal Background (Not All Required)

  • Experience in health tech, behavioral health tech, or adjacent B2B technology environments
  • Experience optimizing existing systems rather than building everything from scratch
  • Exposure to multi-state or distributed provider networks
  • Corporate-level professionalism paired with hands-on execution

This Role Is Not a Fit If You…

  • Struggle in smaller, fast-moving organizations
  • Need highly defined instructions or narrow scope
  • Thrive in slower-moving, highly risk-averse environments
  • Prefer indirect influence over direct accountability and decision-making
  • Seek leadership roles that are primarily strategic rather than execution-oriented

Why Join Us

  • Real authority and executive visibility
  • Direct impact on company trajectory and long-term value
  • Close partnership with a strong CEO and technical leadership
  • Competitive compensation tied to real business performance
  • Opportunity to help build a category-defining platform in behavioral health

Requirements

  • 5+ Years Experience in senior operations leadership (COO, VP Ops, Director of Ops, or equivalent) in a company of similar or greater complexity
  • Proven experience scaling organizations from ~$10M to $100M+ in revenue
  • Willing to Relocate / Commute to Phoenix, AZ
